Reducing the appearance of Crepey skin
Crepey skin is when the skin, due to a variety of possible factors, resembles the texture of crepe paper. This kind of wrinkling can be the most frustrating to deal with, crepe paper is meant for streamers and parties, not your skin.
Crepey skin can be a result of many factors such as dehydration and dryness, loss of collagen, sun damage and a lack of preventative measures. As you age, your skin produces less oil than it did when you were younger, these oils create an important lipid barrier that protects your skin and seals in moisture. Hormones can also change and can lead to drier skin and less natural oil production, all resulting in dryness. With age, the skin also produces less collagen, a protein in the body that helps to provide structure and healing to the skin, which can cause the skin to become crepey. UV light breaks down the collagen in the skin, in addition to collagen loss due to age, causing the skin to become crepey.
