Overview
Neck Wrinkles
Wrinkles around the neck may be a consequence of loose skin and aging, but can also appear from excessive muscle contractions. The natural process of aging as well as excessive ultraviolet damage, smoking, and poor diet are also associated with increased wrinkle formation. Often these types of wrinkles are hereditary, i.e., we age in a similar fashion to our ancestors.
Unfortunately, most of us buy and use good skin care products for our face yet consistently forget to apply it to our neck. Without the benefits of this extra care, our faces tend to appear more youthful but our necks give our age away.
Most common causes of neck wrinkles include:
- Sun exposure, exposure to the sun is one of the biggest contributors to wrinkles, lines and other signs of aging
- Movement, moving your skin into certain positions can cause it to develop creases that, over time, slowly turn into deeper and more noticeable wrinkles
- wrinkles that develop on your neck may be a consequence of certain aspects of your posture which includes repeated facial expression or movements
- Smoking, smoking damages your skin, increasing your risk of developing wrinkles over time. Research shows that smokers tend to have less elastic skin than people who don’t smoke, as well as a higher degree of visible wrinkling
WHAT CAN BE DONE?
How to Get Rid of Wrinkles in Neck?
If you have neck wrinkles, adding certain products to your skin care routine may help to make them lighter and less visible. Some cosmetic treatments may also get rid of other aspects of skin aging, such as sagging and discoloration.
Moisturizer’s help to trap water inside your skin, improving its appearance and making fine lines and wrinkles harder to see. If you have visible wrinkles on your neck, try applying a moisturizer to the surrounding skin to increase fullness and make them less obvious.
Nevertheless, If you are considering a cosmetic procedure a consultation will determine whether your neck wrinkles are suitable for lasers or radio-frequency skin tightening neck treatments.
As with all skin wrinkles and issues, sun protection is the best way to halt further damage. Applying a broad spectrum sunblock on your face and neck daily, year-round will be your first step to rejuvenating your neck’s skin and maintaining results.
